Meet Qta Encontro Encontro's dry red wine: a blend of Baga and Merlot, all from Portugal from the 2021 vintage. New to Baga? Baga is a Portuguese red grape from the Bairrada region, known for high acidity, firm tannins and bright red-fruit, with excellent aging potential. Merlot comes along for the ride as well — a widely grown red grape valued for its soft, supple texture and approachable plum and black-cherry fruit, making it one of the most easy-drinking reds. Portugal is a goldmine of native grapes, from the zippy whites of the green northwest to the muscular reds and legendary Ports of the Douro Valley. Pour it with grilled steak, lamb or a slow-cooked stew and it'll feel right at home. Serve it at cool room temperature.
