Periquita is a traditional name for Castelão, a Portuguese red grape giving firm, savory, red-fruited wines. It's joined by Trincadeira — a Portuguese red grape prized for its spicy, dark-berry aromatics and is widely grown in the Alentejo and Douro. It's from the Alentejo, the warm, rolling plains of southern Portugal known for ripe, welcoming reds. Pour it with weeknight pasta, roast chicken or a cheese plate and you're golden. Best enjoyed at cool room temperature.
