Los noques Don juan malbec/cab franc 2017
This dry red wine comes from Argentina, built around Malbec and Cabernet Franc from the 2017 vintage. About the grape — Malbec is a French grape that found its spiritual home in Argentina, producing deeply colored, full-bodied reds with plush black-fruit, plum and a velvety texture. Cabernet Franc comes along for the ride as well — an aromatic red grape, a parent of Cabernet Sauvignon, typically lighter in body with red-fruit, herbal and sometimes peppery character. Argentina is South America's wine powerhouse, where most of the vineyards sit high in the dry foothills of the Andes — all that bright sunshine and cool mountain nights give the wines their ripe, juicy generosity. Pour it with grilled steak, lamb or a slow-cooked stew and it'll feel right at home. Pop it open at cool room temperature — a brief chill on a hot day doesn't hurt.
