This is Gavala's take on Mavrotragano — a dry red wine out of Greece from the 2023 vintage. About the grape — Mavrotragano is a rare Santorini red grape, revived in recent decades, producing deeply colored, structured and age-worthy reds. Greece has been making wine for thousands of years, and its sun-drenched hills and breezy islands grow native grapes you simply won't find anywhere else. This is your steak-night, lamb-roast, hearty-stew kind of red. Serve it at cool room temperature.
