Meet Ch. de Respide's dry red wine: a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, all from France from the 2021 vintage. A quick word on the grape: Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world's most planted red grapes, prized for its deep color, firm tannins and dark-fruit flavors of blackcurrant and plum, often with notes of cedar and tobacco. Merlot comes along for the ride as well — a widely grown red grape valued for its soft, supple texture and approachable plum and black-cherry fruit, making it one of the most easy-drinking reds. France is the spiritual home of wine, the place that gave us most of the world's classic styles and the whole idea that where a wine grows shapes how it tastes.
