Kourtaki Apelia red 20NV
Meet Kourtaki Apelia's dry red wine: a blend of Agiorgitiko, Syrah and Roditis, all from Greece, and it's a non-vintage bottling. Agiorgitiko is one of Greece's most important red grapes, centered on Nemea, producing soft, velvety wines with ripe red-fruit, plum and a hint of spice. Syrah comes along for the ride as well — a bold red grape producing dark, full-bodied wines with blackberry, black-pepper and smoky, savory notes; it is known as Shiraz in Australia. Greece has been making wine for thousands of years, and its sun-drenched hills and breezy islands grow native grapes you simply won't find anywhere else. It's a friendly all-rounder — lovely with roast chicken, pork, mushroomy dishes or a bowl of tomatoey pasta. Pop it open at cool room temperature — a brief chill on a hot day doesn't hurt.
