Averoff Black squirrel 2019


The 2019 Averoff Black Squirrel is a distinctive dry red varietal wine that has garnered attention and awards in the wine community. Its characteristics include a bright light red color and an intensely aromatic nose with hints of ripe red fruit and spice. The wine exhibits well-integrated tannins and pleasant acidity, contributing to its fresh and aromatic character, and finishes with a long, deliciously complex aftertaste. The vinification process involves separate fermentation for each variety, with pre-fermentation maceration and a subsequent fermentation period, culminating in maturation in stainless steel tanks. The grape varieties used in this wine are Xinomavro and Merlot, which combine to create a unique flavor profile. The wine can also be enjoyed by itself, preferably lightly chilled. Moreover, the 2019 Averoff Black Squirrel has received multiple awards, including a Silver at the Thessaloniki International Wine Competition in 2022, and Bronze at both the Decanter Awards and Texsom IWA in 2023. It also secured another Silver at the Thessaloniki International Wine Competition in 2023, highlighting its quality and popularity among wine critics and connoisseurs.
