Avantis Holy time evia red 2019
Here's a lovely dry red wine from Greece, made with Syrah and Viognier from the 2019 vintage. Syrah is a bold red grape producing dark, full-bodied wines with blackberry, black-pepper and smoky, savory notes; it is known as Shiraz in Australia. Viognier comes along for the ride as well — an aromatic white grape giving full-bodied, low-acid wines with heady aromas of apricot, peach and white flowers. Greece has been making wine for thousands of years, and its sun-drenched hills and breezy islands grow native grapes you simply won't find anywhere else. Pour it with grilled steak, lamb or a slow-cooked stew and it'll feel right at home. Pop it open at cool room temperature — a brief chill on a hot day doesn't hurt.
