Here's a lovely dry red wine from Portugal, made with Aragonez (Tempranillo), Alicante Bouschet and Trincadeira from the 2023 vintage. About the grape — Aragonez is a southern-Portuguese name for Tempranillo, giving structured, savory reds with red and dark fruit. There's Alicante Bouschet in the blend too: unusual among red grapes for its red flesh, producing intensely colored, full-bodied wines with concentrated dark fruit. Portugal is a goldmine of native grapes, from the zippy whites of the green northwest to the muscular reds and legendary Ports of the Douro Valley. It's a friendly all-rounder — lovely with roast chicken, pork, mushroomy dishes or a bowl of tomatoey pasta. Best enjoyed at cool room temperature.
