Oenodea Cabernet/syrah/agiorgitiko 2019
Oenodea brings us this dry red wine from Greece, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Agiorgitiko from the 2019 vintage. A quick word on the grape: Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world's most planted red grapes, prized for its deep color, firm tannins and dark-fruit flavors of blackcurrant and plum, often with notes of cedar and tobacco. Syrah comes along for the ride as well — a bold red grape producing dark, full-bodied wines with blackberry, black-pepper and smoky, savory notes; it is known as Shiraz in Australia. Greece has been making wine for thousands of years, and its sun-drenched hills and breezy islands grow native grapes you simply won't find anywhere else. Pour it with grilled steak, lamb or a slow-cooked stew and it'll feel right at home. Best enjoyed at cool room temperature.
