Gourgonnier Les baux de provence red 2021
Meet Gourgonnier les Baux's dry red wine: a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre, all from France from the 2021 vintage. Syrah is a bold red grape producing dark, full-bodied wines with blackberry, black-pepper and smoky, savory notes; it is known as Shiraz in Australia. Grenache comes along for the ride as well — a warm-climate red grape giving generous, fruit-forward wines with ripe strawberry and raspberry flavors, gentle tannins and a touch of spice. It comes from Provence, the sun-and-sea region practically synonymous with pale, refreshing rosé. It loves rich, meaty food — think grilled red meat, braises and a wedge of aged cheese. Pop it open at cool room temperature — a brief chill on a hot day doesn't hurt.
