Papargyriou Le roi des montagnes red 2023
This dry red wine comes from Greece, built around Cabernet Sauvignon, Mavrodaphne and Touriga from the 2023 vintage. A quick word on the grape: Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world's most planted red grapes, prized for its deep color, firm tannins and dark-fruit flavors of blackcurrant and plum, often with notes of cedar and tobacco. It's joined by Mavrodaphne — a Greek red grape best known for rich, sweet fortified wines from Patras, with flavors of dried fruit, chocolate and spice. Greece has been making wine for thousands of years, and its sun-drenched hills and breezy islands grow native grapes you simply won't find anywhere else. This is your steak-night, lamb-roast, hearty-stew kind of red. Pop it open at cool room temperature — a brief chill on a hot day doesn't hurt.
