Meet Mezzek's dry red wine: a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Mavrud, all from Bulgaria from the 2021 vintage. Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world's most planted red grapes, prized for its deep color, firm tannins and dark-fruit flavors of blackcurrant and plum, often with notes of cedar and tobacco. Mavrud comes along for the ride as well — Bulgaria's signature red grape, producing deeply colored, tannic, full-bodied wines with dark fruit and spice that reward aging. Bulgaria has a long wine history and a cast of native grapes, making characterful, great-value reds and whites. Pour it with grilled steak, lamb or a slow-cooked stew and it'll feel right at home. Serve it at cool room temperature.
