Kamkoutis Kourites red 2020
Here's a lovely dry red wine from Greece — Kamkoutis Kourites's blend of Xinomavro, Cabernet and Merlot from the 2020 vintage. A quick word on the grape: Xinomavro is northern Greece's noble red grape, famed in Naoussa for high acidity, firm tannins and savory red-fruit and tomato notes; it is often compared to Italy's Nebbiolo. Cabernet comes along for the ride as well — a deeply colored, structured red grape in the Cabernet family, known for dark-fruit flavors and firm tannins. Greece has been making wine for thousands of years, and its sun-drenched hills and breezy islands grow native grapes you simply won't find anywhere else. Pour it with grilled steak, lamb or a slow-cooked stew and it'll feel right at home. Serve it at cool room temperature.
